Team Accomplishments
Please email bcjackson@shaw.ca if your team has to a tournament and done well. Let's Celebrate the great accomplishments of our NSDSC teams!
Recent Accomplishments
Girls U14 tier 2 Suns, coached by Stephanne Demers, won Gold at the Revelstoke Tournament September 12-14/08. The girls were the defending Champions from 2007. This was Stephanne's last tournament with the girls as he is coaching another team. They will all miss him!
The BU14 United entered the Revelstoke tournament on the September 12 weekend and came away with gold. It was a great accomplishment for the boys after a lot of hard work this Summer.
Congratulations to the Heat, U-16 Girls for Capturing Gold at the Tier III Provincials.
Congratulations to the Crusaders, U-18 Girls for Winning Silver at the Tier III Provincials.
On the weekend of July 26-27, the GU18 NSDSC Crusaders competed in the Red Deer Coca-Cola Tournament against Tier II (this is not a typing error, it was Tier II competition not Tier III) teams from across Alberta and finished with a Silver medal. The competition was great and the girls really worked hard for their wins.
Also, the Crusaders finished first in their CMSA playoff round going undefeated in six games. They scored a total of 28 goals and had only 5 scored against them resulting in a goals for and against difference of 23; 18 more than the second place finishers. What a way for a full team of 1990 players to finish their minor soccer career! Way to go Cru!!
Despite injuries and tornadoes the U14 Jaguars win Silver at the USA Cup in Minnesota! Congratulations girls, we are proud of you!
Congratulations to the U 12 boys premiere 1 Rangers 96's. They won gold in the Lethbridge Tournament on June 6-8. It was a great tournament eventhough it rained all weekend. They won all four games and did not have a goal scored against them, they dominated. They have also been doing spectacular in their season where they have only one goal scored against them. Great work Rangers!! Keep up the hard work!!
The Girls U14 tier 2 Suns won Silver in the Cranbrook tournament on June 20-22/08
GU-14 Nitro (black) coached by Don Shepherd and GU-12 Orioles (white) coached by Kurt Bertram played for the bronze medal in the U-13 1995 division at Cranbrook on the June 22 - 23 weekend. Prior to the medal match both teams held an identical 2 wins and 1 loss record in their respective pools. After the Nitro received their bronze medals, the players in turn presented their medals to each of the Orioles players who had played a tough game against them. Both teams showed fair play and demonstrated what true sportsmanship is all about.
The NSDSC Angels won the silver medal in the Medicine Hat 15th Annual Father's Day Tournament, June 13-15. They played their first game against Regina and won convincingly 4-1. The next game was against Med Hat Tier 2 Crusaders, which they won 2-0. They played SWU Elite next. The Angels had played them in league play and got their clocks cleaned, 8-0. In the tourney the Angels played to a 0-0 draw. The girls were outstanding. In the Gold medal game they played a team from Coaldale that was a year older and very strong. The girls had some opportuniies to finish but were unable to pot a goal. They ended up losing 1-0 for the much deserved Silver medal. A point to note here, the tourney had only 3 teams that were Tier 3, including the Angels. The Angels beat the only other Tier 3 team they played in a very dominate fashion. The other three teams they played were all good tier 2 teams. Four games, with only two goals against!
The BU12 NSDSC Force won the bronze medal in the Medicine Hat 15th Annual Father's Day Tournament, June 13-15.
GU12 NSDSC Explosion won the bronze medal at the Medicine Hat Father's Day Tournament
The GU16 NSD Fury won silver in Edmonton's Summer Sizzler Tournament June 7-8. Both the semi-final game and the gold medal game went down to overtime and a shoot-out before Edmonton won on the final shot. It was super competitive and extremely entertaining for both the players and parents you couldnt ask for a better tournament! The team would also like to thank the 3 call-ups from our sister team, the NSD Panthers, who contributed to Furys success that weekend.
GU12 NSDSC Hawks won a Gold Medal in Edmonton's Summer Sizzler Tournament
BU12 Comp A NSDSC Roughnecks won the well deserved Gold Medal in Edmonton's Summer Sizzler Tournament.
An Accomplishment in Sportsmanship
On May 21, 2008, the U10G Comp A Extreme were in a tightly contested, scoreless game against NWU Chaos. After scoring what appeared to be the winning, and only goal of the game, the Extreme coach became aware the team had an extra girl on the field when the goal went in. Play had already resumed and the other team was not aware of the situation.
Without hesitation, and supported by all the girls on the team, the coach immediately made the referee aware of the unfair advantage, and that the goal should not be counted. As a result, the game ended in a scoreless draw. More importantly, the girls learned a valuable lesson about sportsmanship and fair play. As a parent, I'm proud to have my daughter associated with such an outstanding group of girls, led by a coaching staff which is committed to developing quality individuals as well as soccer players.
Congratulations to the Strikers who won the last President Cup tournament.
Congratulations to the NSDSC Orioles - GU12 Comp A, who won a bronze medal in the CMSA Presidents Cup Tourney on the May Long Weekend
Congratulations to the BU12 Comp A NSDSC Roughnecks who took home the Gold Medal at the 13th Annual Presidents Cup Tournament! Also to the NSDSC Rowdies with the Silver , and the NSDSC Aztecs with the Bronze. Truly a great group of boys!
NSD Renegades - Intercities
We had a great season finishing 7W-1L +26 to take 1st place and win our spot in the A level intercities. What a phenominal weekend of soccer Intercities turned out to be. 4 teams each with only 1 loss in the final round of the season in round robin competition. 6 games in total - 4 with a 1 point spread, 2 with 2 point spread. The final games were played simultaniously and with 2 minutes to go we were still 1 of 3 teams battling for gold and 1 of 3 teams battling for bronze. The competition couldn't have been tighter and it brought out the best.
Our Renegades had some great games - losing the 1st 4-3 in a game where there was never a lead for more than 5 minutes. We followed that with a strong 3-1 win and then Sunday morning (we all made the time change) played the most exciting game of our season - down 1 about 10 minutes in, tied 1 minute later - and a heartbreaking 2nd goal against us with 1 second to go in the half. That turned out to be Callingwoods Gold medal winning goal following a scoreless 2nd half. Both keepers were fantastic with television worthy saves of the season. Our whole team played an awesome game, and our goal a split second after the buzzer showed the spirit and effort that was maintained through out the intercities and our whole season. Our girls effort was something that our whole club should be proud of, and our medal was something special and completes our set for the season - Gold for the playoff round, Silver from the Power Play Cup tournament in Edmonton, and Bronze for the intercities.
Way to go Renegades!

The team of only 11 players was a force through all 4 games with 2 shut-outs, 3 goals against and a commanding 4 to 0 gold medal win. One of the highlights of the gold medal game was an amazing first period goal by Fury's keeper. All the best to the team as they now head off to the Slush Cup on March 1st to try and bring home another medal for NSDSC.
