Practice and Academy Schedules

Make sure all coaches check practice schedules 24 hours before any given practice to ensure there have been no changes. With 84 teams being scheduled, sometimes coaches aren't notified of changes, and it is your responsibility to double-check. Hopefully, this will alleviate some of the scheduling problems we have recently encountered.

Bench Parents
Due to recent developments in the soccer community, NSDSC wants to remind all coaches that there must be 2 adults with the players at all times and 1 of the adults must be on the same gender as the players. If you do not have a team official who is of the same gender than you must have a bench parent. A bench parent must be of the same gender as the players on the team. This parent is responsible for being on the bench during the games, in the locker rooms before and after the games with the coaches, and at all practices. This parent is also responsible for staying with the coach or coaches until all players have left the game or practice. This parent is a third party observer, who is there to ensure both coaches and players rights are respected. A bench parent does not need security clearance or an ID card to be on the bench.
Our main goal as a club is to ensure that there are always 2 adults with the players with 1 of them being of the same gender.
On the website it did state that a bench parent was needed for each team and needed a CMSA security clearance. This is not the case; if one or both of the team officials are the same gender as the team you do not need a bench parent. As well the Bench parent, if your team needs one, does not need to have CMSA Clearance. You may use any parent as long as they are the same gender as the team. I am sorry for any confusion this may have brought; the website is in the process of being updated to state this.
Calgary Minor Soccer Association Photo Identification - UPDATED April 23, 2008
All players from U12 to U18 require a valid CMSA Photo ID card (with an expiry date on it.) The referee may ask that these cards be handed in individually to the referee at the start of the game. If a player does not have their Player Card, that Player will not be allowed to participate in the game.
At least one Team Official for U10 to U18 teams requires a valid CMSA Photo ID but it is encouraged that each team official on the roster have a CMSA ID card.
All registered U10 players playing-up on a U12 team in a league game require a restricted movement pass, signed by one of their team officials or Club Board of Directors. This pass is to be given to the team the player is playing-up with. The pass, along with the game sheet is to be submitted to the Referee. Blank copies of the restricted movement pass can be downloaded from the CMSA website in the documents section.
All Player Photo ID cards are valid for 4 years from the date of issue. All team official Photo ID cards are valid for 3 years. Upon expiry, Cards will be revalidated and re-issued at no cost to the Player / Team Official, should they still require a valid CMSA Photo ID card and as long as the old card is handed in at the time of revalidation.
If a coach cannot make a game for any reason, they may give their team official card to a responsible adult for presentation to the referee if no other team officials will be present at the game. In the event that none of the Team Officials for a specific team show up to a game with a valid ID card, one Team Official will be allowed to remain on the bench (and a bench Parent if required) and the game will be played. The Referee will note that no cards were presented on the game sheet.
The ID cards are property of CMSA and must be given back to the Member at the end of each season or when requested by CMSA. The cost for the card is $10 (cash or cheque only) unless turning in an old or expired card, which then the card will replaced for free.
Any player found using more than one-(1), player ID card shall be suspended from all soccer activity until a CMSA Discipline hearing is held.
If you have lost your player ID card, you can contact the CMSA office to have the card reprinted. A $10 fee will be charged for this.
