Academy

The Academy Program for the 2008-2009 Season will commence October 24, 2008 and continue to March 01, 2009. The program will include 15 sessions for a cost of $320.00.

The NSD Academy Philosophy:

Our goal is to provide an enriching training program in a challenging and dynamic environment using sound age group appropriate training principles at each level. We want to help the player become better through teaching individual skills and small group tactics. Players will learn the link between these skills, the basic tactics and competition. In other words we want to teach players the “when, where and why,” not just the how. Our academy progresses from a player’s initial introduction at the U8 or U10 level through each season with the goal of every player understanding what concepts and skills he or she needs to know at each level of play. This building block philosophy means that although there is repetition from season to season and year to year, players also learn new skills and concepts every season of the program. The NSD Academy coaches provide a consistent standard of coaching that is able to focus on player development without the inevitable pressure of league results that is inherent in team training. Players are expected to adhere to a standard of effort, respect and responsibility that will help them not just in soccer, but in their off field lives as well.

Volunteer Bond: One per family payable at time of registration. CMSA U10-18 $100. U4-8 $25. If families have players in both programs the $100 will apply. Click here for more information on the volunteer bond.

Late Fee: $50

Jersey Deposit: all players U10-18 must provide a $100 cheque postdated to March 31 2009

Registration FAQ

• When is registration?
  Registration is ongoing until September 14, 2008. You can register online by clicking this link. Walk-in registration is also available at the NSDSC office, 7475 Flint Road SE. Please call the office at 403.201.8788 for extended registration hours.


• What if I can’t make it that day?
  You can either register online or come in to the office. See website for forms, office location & hours.


• Can I use postdated cheques?
  Yes, up to 3 postdated cheques can be used – dated Sept 1, Oct 1 & Nov 1. If further arrangements are required, please contact the office.


• Can I pay by credit card?
  We accept Visa, and Mastercard.


• What if I cannot afford to pay?
  All players who require financial assistance must go through Kidsport. Kidsport is an organization funded by various sports associations. Call 202-0251 for more information


• What if I missed the registration deadline?
  Late registrants will be accepted based on availability in the program. Please call the office 536-4573 or 536-4576


• When are tryouts?
  Evaluations will be held between Sept 4 (Tier 1) and Sept 21st. You will be contacted with your exact time, date, and location.


• What if I am new to NSD Soccer Club? Will I get a fair evaluation?
  All players will be evaluated and placed on teams according to evaluation results. NSD Soccer Club does not have preformed teams


• What if I can’t attend evaluations?
  You need to advise your Age Group Coordinator or the office that you will be unable to attend.


• What if I want to play up an age group?
  All players are required to register in their own age groups. You may make your request on the registration form in the “Special Request” section. Our technical staff will evaluate your request and make any necessary changes.


• What if I want to be on a team with my friend?
  You can put in a special request on the registration page and we will try to accommodate your request


• I have registered with NSD Soccer Club but also plan to tryout with another club, what do I do?
  You need to consider this very carefully as we have a very strict refund policy. There are no exceptions to this policy. Details can be found on the registration database as well as the website.


• I don’t know my CMSA number – do I need it?
  If you are a returning player your CMSA number is already in our system. If you are new to NSD Soccer Club you will find your number on your player card. If you do not have a player card, we will get your number from CMSA


• I don’t have my Health Insurance number – do I need it to register?
  No, you can email or phone it in to the office later


• Do I need to give you proof of age?
  If you have never played soccer within Calgary Minor Soccer OR if you are new to Calgary you will need to attach a copy of proof of age.


• I don’t have my birth certificate… what else can I use?
  A passport, government ID card or Health Care Card are all acceptable


• Where do I send my waivers, deposits & fees?
  To the office – information is on the registration page & on the website


• What if I don’t send in my waivers?
  You will not be able to participate in any evaluations until all paperwork has been received by the Office.
